Questioning Conventional Wisdom in the COVID-19 Crisis, with Dr. Jay Bhattacharya

By | April 2, 2020

Great interview with Dr. Jay Bhattacharya. An honest and candid view of what we know and do not know about this epidemic.

Dr. Bhattacharya is professor of medicine at Stanford University and research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research.

He co-authored with a colleague from Stanford a remarkable opinion article in the Wall Street Journal on Mar 24, that shook established opinion and beliefs.

He questions the premise that “coronavirus would kill millions without lockdowns and quarantines.”

In the article he suggests that “there’s little evidence to confirm that premise – and projections of the death toll could plausibly be orders of magnitude too high.”

A vaccine maybe years away from being available to the public. We will have to learn o live twith this virus and other that will surely come up in the future.

Stopping globalisation and shuting down the economy is not the solution as they will cause more harm than good. We should rather implement early warning and tracking systems. He believes that can be done without being too intrusive for our privacy and liberty.
