Apparently Russia funded green activists in Europe at the same time increasing Nuclear power capacity. Europe embarked on a fashionable trend to overspend on green energy and against Nuclear and fracking.
Germany is closing Nuclear power which could be a good replacement for coal.
Europe played to Putin’s hand and became too dependent on Russian gas and oil. Especially Germany. Now sanctions on Russia hurt Europe too.
