Beyond the models and curve flattening. Great stuff from The Economist, once again.

01:45 – Pascal Soriot, Astra Zenec´s CEO interviewed. He mentions 3 major approaches to fight the pandemia:

  1. The virus itself and how it acts. They are working on a monocle antibody.
  2. Our immune system’s response. This seems to be what kills people more than the infection itself. Regulate the hyper immune response and prevent ventilators
  3. Treatment of the sick and how to improve healing and avoid organ damage – lungs, kidney and heart.

He says IP won´t be a problem as industry players are collaborating: Manufacturing will be the issue.
Then at 08:30 they discuss the prospect for a vaccine, namely Moderna/ Boston (innovatve vaccine using modified RNA) , Oxford (these are probably the most advanced), J&J, Sanofi/GSK, etc.

10:30 – The editors discuss further on immunity of people infected

16:30 – Lastly Sonja Lyubomirsky, professor of psychology at the University of California, Riverside, discusses the impact of distancing and loneliness on our immune system. And how socialising and acts of kindness can boost it. Interesting viewpoints that seem to be shown by evidence.
